30.06.15 - Caithness Lochs 2015
The trout fishing in Caithness during the month of June can only be described as “ Magic”, all the lochs are on form with some excellent sport and big quality fish being caught on most lochs. Loch Heilen has produced a few nice ones up to 8 pounds. The Mayfly hatch has been good on both St Johns and Toftingall and Ian Kerr had a cracking trout from St Johns at 5 lbs 13oz on the 20th June. Loch Watten has produced some really nice catches this year with 3 pound trout being caught almost daily and loads in the 2 -3 pounds class. The best caught for June was a 4 pounder by Derek Cowan. The Loch is crystal clear and weed free with mostly all the catches being on floating lines and top of the water techniques.
